Sanctuary Olonana is an exceptional luxury safari lodge set on a private stretch of the Mara River in the heart of Kenya’s most famous game reserve, the Masai Mara.

Featuring 14 glass-sided suites, Sanctuary Olonana is inspired by the Masai Mara’s breath-taking natural wonders, an abundance of wildlife, and a dramatic river which runs right past its forest setting.

The soothing interiors of the main lodge are an extension of the surrounding wilderness. Dine on the deck of the main lodge and overlook the river’s resident hippos. Relax with a good book in the library, cool off in the pool or for an extra special treat, experience traditional African remedies and spa treatments in the mini-spa.

Game drives, cultural visits, bush dinners, sundowners, scenic flights and balloon rides, Olonana makes for a wonderful African safari.

A pod of hippos lives permanently in the river just below camp and many other species come to drink there. Sanctuary's experienced guides take you to all the hidden spots and our customised open safari vehicles offer all-round views, allowing for excellent photography opportunities. The Mara's rich eco-system includes acacia-studded savannah, riparian forest and woodland which attract more than 300 bird species and a stunning variety of animal life all year round. Join a hot air balloon safari where your balloon is inflated against the first rays of sunrise and once aloft floats gently over the plains and the plethora of game

Get an insight into the vibrant and still traditional way of life of the Maasai. Accompanied by an experienced Maasai guide you are invited to visit the village which is built along traditional lines; complete with cattle enclosure, outer palisade and mud and cow dung huts. Meet the elders, their wives and families and learn about the social structure of the homestead, the role of women in their society and many more aspects of their daily life.

Client Testimonials

"We enjoyed this fourth trip to Africa more than any we have made. Singita was beyond anything we have seen before. The service and the setting were incomparable. At Singita we would sit on the balcony and we saw elephants, baboons, impala, the big monitor lizards and in the morning we left two leopards walked across the river. We are so appreciative for all you have done for us and for the wonderful job you always do."
James B. Holloway, Jr. M.D.
"High Adventure Safaris has done a magnificent job with our trips to Africa for the medical seminar we host each year. It is a pleasure to work with this agency. They have accommodated all of our participants to the highest degree. We look forward to future trips with you."

Peggy Clinkscales, Atlanta GA
"I've been traveling all over the world for twenty years, but my trip this month to Africa put together by your firm was the smoothest and best planned trip I've ever made. The various places we stayed were outstanding and the uniqueness of each location added to the charm and atmosphere of the trip. The service I received from the guides, drivers and hotel attendants made me feel like royalty. The most impressive part was how smooth everything worked. Thanks again for your hard work, dedication and professionalism. I look forward to another trip with you."
Mike Blair, Managing director-Investments Wachovia Securities Inc.
"Thank you for a superb job of planning and organizing as everything went smoothly. The country of South Africa so captivated me that my husband and I are already planning a return trip next summer. The only thing to rival the bush and animals was the food. The experience of South Africa is like no other and its effect is difficult to express. I can only encourage others to make the venture."
Laurel J. Snelling, Physician Assistant Associates PLLC.
